Before you can promote anything on Reddit, your account needs reputation. Posting promotional content from a brand-new account is one of the fastest ways to get flagged, shadowbanned, or removed. ReddGrow's karma warmup system solves this — automatically building your account's reputation before any product mentions appear.
What is Karma Warmup?
Karma warmup is the process of establishing a Reddit account as a genuine, contributing member of communities before using it for any promotional purpose. Think of it like email warmup: you don't send 10,000 cold emails from a fresh domain. You ramp up slowly to build sender reputation.
ReddGrow does the same for Reddit accounts. During warmup, the system generates and posts non-promotional comments — helpful, topical contributions that earn upvotes and karma — until the account meets the thresholds needed to engage in your target subreddits.
Why You Need It
Most subreddits enforce minimum karma thresholds before allowing posts or comments. Beyond hard limits, the Reddit algorithm and community moderators are suspicious of accounts that suddenly appear posting promotional content with no post history.
A warmed-up account:
- Passes subreddit minimum karma requirements
- Avoids spam filter triggers that flag new accounts
- Builds authentic post history that makes promotional comments look natural
How the Warmup Ratio Works
ReddGrow uses a graduated ratio formula to control what percentage of your comments contain product mentions. The ratio increases as your account earns more karma.

At zero karma, every draft generated is a pure warmup comment — no product mentions, no links, no brand references.
Milestone Progression
As your account hits karma milestones, new capabilities unlock:

Warmup Draft Behavior
Warmup drafts are fundamentally different from promotional drafts:
- Zero product mentions — the AI is explicitly instructed not to reference your product, brand, or website
- Topic-first content — comments focus entirely on the subreddit topic and post context
- Rising post targeting — the scanner prioritizes posts with upward momentum to maximize the chance your comment earns upvotes and builds karma efficiently
Subreddit Unlocking
Each subreddit in your campaign has a minimum karma threshold configured during discovery. The scanner checks your account's current karma against this threshold before assigning drafts. Subreddits with higher thresholds — typically larger, more established communities — only become available once your account crosses the required milestone.
This means your early activity is concentrated in more permissive communities, helping you build karma faster before opening up high-value targets.
How Warmup Looks in the Dashboard
Fire Icon
Account cards in the Dashboard and the Journey page display a fire icon when the account is in active warmup. This indicates the promotional ratio has not yet reached its full ceiling and most drafts generated for this account will be warmup (non-promotional) comments.
The fire icon disappears once the account crosses the first meaningful karma milestone.
Warmup Widget
The Dashboard includes a ReddGrow Warmup widget showing:
- Day of warmup (Day 1–7+)
- Current phase (browse only / one post/day / two posts/day / full pace)
- Which accounts are in warmup vs graduated
Account Card States
Each connected Reddit account card shows:

Subreddit Unlock Timeline
On the Journey page, select any connected account to see the Subreddit Unlock Timeline — a list of your targeted subreddits ordered by their minimum karma requirement, with an estimated date when each will unlock based on your current karma growth rate.
Manual Posting and Warmup
Posting promotional content manually on Reddit (outside ReddGrow) in the same subreddits you are targeting can disrupt warmup. Reddit's spam filter flags accounts that suddenly post promotional content without post history. Keep manual posting out of target subreddits during the first 7 days — or use a different Reddit account for any manual activity.
