Reddit Attribution & Conversion Tracking

How to track clicks, form fills, and conversions back to your Reddit comments using UTMs, Dream Data, and other attribution tools.

ReddGrow does not natively intercept link clicks or track conversions — it generates and posts comments. This guide covers the patterns for connecting Reddit activity to pipeline and revenue data.

UTM Parameters in Drafts

The most direct approach: include UTM-tagged URLs in your campaign's Knowledge Base or advocate profile. The AI will use them when drafting promotional comments that include links.

Recommended UTM structure:

https://yoursite.com?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=comment&utm_campaign=<campaign-name>&utm_content=<subreddit>

Add this as a note in your Knowledge Base:

When linking to the website, always use:
https://yoursite.com?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=comment&utm_campaign=growth

The AI will pick this up during draft generation and include it in promotional comments.

Viewing Reddit Traffic in Analytics

In Google Analytics 4 or similar tools:

  • Filter sessions by Source = reddit.com or Source = t.co/reddit (shortened Reddit links)
  • Segment by Campaign to isolate ReddGrow UTM-tagged sessions
  • Cross-reference with the Brand Monitor → Mentions dates to correlate high-activity posting periods with traffic spikes

Note: Reddit redirects external links through a redd.it or out.reddit.com intermediary — ensure your analytics tool is configured to capture the original UTM params through redirect chains.

Dream Data / Zapier Attribution

For B2B teams that need Reddit attribution in CRM or pipeline data, Dream Data and similar multi-touch attribution tools can enrich inbound leads with Reddit touchpoints.

Approach with Zapier:

  1. Set up a Zap that fires when a new inbound form submission lands in your CRM
  2. Look up the lead's source — if the UTM source is reddit, tag the lead in CRM with source: reddit
  3. Optionally cross-reference the subreddit (from utm_content) with your active subreddits in ReddGrow to attribute to the specific campaign

Dream Data approach:

Dream Data uses first-party cookies and ad platform data to reconstruct multi-touch journeys. If a prospect visits your site from a Reddit link (UTM-tagged), Dream Data captures that touchpoint and attributes it to the Reddit channel even if the eventual conversion happens weeks later from a direct visit.

Brand Monitor as Proxy Signal

While click attribution requires external tools, Brand Monitor → Mentions shows which Reddit posts mention your brand or link to your site. Combined with:

  • Traffic spikes on matching dates in GA4
  • New inbound signups on days after high-posting sessions

This provides a reasonable causal signal even without direct click tracking.
